What year are you, and where are you from?
I am an M4 from Evans City, Pennsylvania.
What motivates you to become a doctor?
I’ve always loved stories and learning about people and how their experiences shape who they are and the decisions they make. I love that medicine asks you to connect with people and develop trust between yourself and patients in which they feel they can confide in you and trust that you have the knowledge to help them on their best and worst days.
What has been your favorite part of working on Scope and Scalpel?
I’ve loved getting to use my brain in a different way than the way school/clinical work usually does. I love getting to do something creative and to follow a project from the very first brainstorming meetings all the way through to seeing an audience of people laugh and sing and smile along with your creation on stage.
Do you have any areas of interest? What are your career aspirations?
I'll be starting an obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) residency at ChristianaCare in Newark, Delaware, this summer! After residency, I plan to work as a generalist OB/GYN in an underserved/rural community. Outside of OB/GYN, I am also interested in the medical humanities.
Tell me some fun facts!
I have a cat named August.
I used to ride dirt bikes and motorcycles when I was a kid.
I was an English major in college and wrote a novel while studying for the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), which hasn't been published but hopefully will be someday!
