FAQ

What can I expect from the host?
The specific expectations are coordinated in advance of the visit or discussion between the student and the host. The registration page includes preference questions that are taken into account when matching students and hosts.

Who are the HOST volunteers?
HOST volunteers are University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine alumni, former fellows and residents.

Where are HOSTs available?

We have hosts spread out across the country. To see if there is an applicable host in your area of interest, please contact the Medical Alumni Association at hsalumni@pitt.edu.

Who provides the initial point of contact between the host and student?
The Medical Alumni Association will make the initial connection. We will contact potential hosts for availability. We will then provide the selected host the name of the student. We will then provide the host name and preferred method of contact to the student who is responsible for contacting the host to finalize details.

What happens if the student needs to change or cancel plans?
Last minute changes sometimes occur. Please let your host and the Medical Alumni Association know as soon as possible in order to secure other arrangements if applicable.

Do I need to do anything after participating in the HOST program?
We encourage students and hosts to submit an evaluation along with a photo from the visit if applicable.

Who do I contact for additional questions about the HOST program?
Please contact Alexandra Rigby, Executive Director, Health Sciences Alumni Relations, at hsalumni@pitt.edu.
